Unless you need a 911 project to stay mentally healthy, I would avoid a restoration. I'm just about finished with mine and the cost of doing it correctly was unbelievable! 
If planning to restore the 73E use the "2x/3x Rule". However much you budget for cost double it, and however long you think it'll take triple it.
