thanks for some interesting ideas. couple questions:

does the orientation of the plug connection matter? it appears that many of the plugs - female and male - are of similar design, and I noticed a number - e.g. "339-7" on one face of a plug, but not the other side. that is it can be one way or flipped around.

does the key have to be turned all the way to starting position to verify the brake wear sensor connections? I can see the "brake pad" light if i turn the key two clicks over (not sure what to call that). I can also see the "parking brake" light, however, the "parking brake" light can be turned off or on by simply moving the brake handle up or down.
