so I'll go first

I'm a cheapskate

I own old Porsches that other people no longer want or are willing to spend the time to fix and I just can't convince myself to fork out the dinero for any new car (but I'm getting close because a 944 can be challenging to keep on the road)

so I cut corners that I judge to be acceptable

I paint my phone dials flat black with a rattle can, it doesn't look as good as powdercoat but its a huge improvement over what they looked like when I got the car, and I can do the job in an afternoon for the price of two cans of Krylon flat black, and I can touch them up at any time

I have a lot of skeletons in this closet

here is another one;

I used vinyl tubing from the local hardware store to replace the old blue tube that connects the brake resivoir to the clutch master cylinder

I finally found a place that sold that tubing (pelican may have it too) but I would have had to wait another week to get it and that would mean I would have to drive my Suburban to work for another week (600 miles a week avg commuting)

I keep an eye on that tubing and its been almost a year now and its still working
