I'm probably not the person in best position to tell the differences between a 959 and a 962, but as far as I know the 959 is basically a de rated racing engine... It has pretty much the same core as the 956/962, but a few minor differences. Fan, turbos, fuel control and so forth..

They both had watercooled heads due to the 4 Valve configuration.
