78 - 924 Alternator / Starter fire and rewire

So I bought a 924 from a buddy about a month and a half ago. I drove the car, knew the alternator was feeling its age. Well after I got the car home a few weeks later I had that notorious problem of the alternator wiring being too close to the exhaust. and caught on fire. Wires grounded out. During inspection the other day, I have also found that the wiring to the starter was fried too.
Can someone point me in the right direction of building a new wire harness?
I have two wires that I was able to trace from the pig tail & battery back to the alternator, and a third wire that goes from the blue wire, pig tail to the small post of the alternator. Is there any other wires that lead to the starter from the alternator?
On the starter I found traced the main wire back to the positive. But I have two smaller wires (red & black) that look like they were in the wiring to the alternator?
