I can speak to the PCA Zone 8 expectations. This is also how it is typically done at National PCA events.
I am a PCA Judge and I prepare Concours cars for a living.

Leave the owners manual(s) and your current registration card in the glove box.

Leave your spare wheel in place in the trunk as well as your tool kit and tire inflator.

If the judging team wants to judge those items they will ask you to remove them so they may inspect.

As far as a more Open Class Concours goes, I have seen the gamut. Tools etc. displayed in the trunk or hatch area of the vehicles as well as out on a blanket or towel in front of the car.

I am not sure how the CCCC judging standards work.

Some venues also require that you have a fire extinguisher and a wheel chock present for the vehicle.

Remember at the PCA Zone level you should only be getting judged on Cleanliness. Not Originality.

PCA National events also take into consideration Originality.

My $.02, Cooper
