This is a very good point! You can do this for under $15k as well. Another upside is that the resulting car can run in competitive events with cars in the same class. Not sure where a 818 would fall here. There is spec boxster racing, for example, and many PCA clubs and POC offer other classed competitive events from time trials to WTW racing.
