Same here - always get ignored by them on my MTB. I don't bother to try to greet any more. And the all-decked-out MTBers aren't any better. They must look at my bike and decide I am not worthy. Funny thing is that half of them are not even fit - they just outspent me on gear to end up looking like a overstuffed sausage ...
There are definitely hobbies where people are a lot friendlier to others pursuing the same activity, independent of spending or expert levels ...
