As far as I know, it is the original. I have plans this winter to replace the clutch, so I may do the flywheel & the IMS bearing too.
My personal theory is that the most susceptible engines are the ones that get used 4 times over two months then sit for the other ten months (or some such). My car gets driven 3-5 days per week from March to December & at least once a month even in the heart of (Upstate NY) winter. I think the sitting time allows the seal to harden & leak/pass oil, thus accelerating the wear. No science or numbers, just a personal theory!
My first Boxster had very few miles on it & it was a prime candidate for a failure (in my theory) but it was totaled & towed before I could verify that. It was part of the reason I bought that car quite cheaply & the low miles were why the replacement check allowed me to move up to a newer 'S'!
