Headed home last night, Quinn rolled over 100,000!
Looking forward to a lot more miles behind the wheel. ![]() ![]() And my brake pads sensor light came on! Has anyone used the Cool Carbon pads without replacing the rotors at the same time? I'm most a street-use person but those caught my attention. Thoughts?

My personal theory is that the most susceptible engines are the ones that get used 4 times over two months then sit for the other ten months (or some such). My car gets driven 3-5 days per week from March to December & at least once a month even in the heart of (Upstate NY) winter. I think the sitting time allows the seal to harden & leak/pass oil, thus accelerating the wear. No science or numbers, just a personal theory! My first Boxster had very few miles on it & it was a prime candidate for a failure (in my theory) but it was totaled & towed before I could verify that. It was part of the reason I bought that car quite cheaply & the low miles were why the replacement check allowed me to move up to a newer 'S'!

I've got the same car, silver, with a little over 79.000 miles on the IMS. I'm driving nervous!

My 2001 S has 113,000 miles on it. Just replaced the clutch and IMS and water pump. etc... The clutch was original and was close to the rivets on the disc. If you chew up the flywheel it adds considerably to the parts cost. Had a local specialty shop do the work and they are awesome. I live in Madison WI and I used Kelly Moss. Keep racking up the miles as our cars are not worth much so might as well enjoy them. How long are suspensions suppose to last, my car has the 030 suspension code?

I used Cool Carbon pads on my Honda race car. The pads were bonded and I had one come off. You should replace the rotors when you install new pads, better stopping and life. Tell Price at Kelly Moss Hi for me

My '97 has close to 204,000 miles and the original IMS and water pump also. I just replaced the original a/c compressor this summer. Enjoy

My 05 Base has joined the 100K club (100878) and counting. I took it in for an RMS and IMS replacement. The shop showed me that my car had the "Final Solution" IMS which would mean they'd have to open the engine to replace. I already have the magnetic drain plug and check the filters, so I just changed the clutch and RMS. I enjoy it immensely! Looking forward to rolling over another 100k.

Congrats!
149k. I just changed out the original shocks to RoW M030. Front caliper rebuild next; inner pistons a bit sticky.

I just joined the 95K club. At this rate, I'll be at 100K in April of '14. Still uses no oil at all between changes.

I used cool carbon pads on my 930 and they were terrible on the street- squeaked a lot and had poor bite until warmed up. They were great on the track though.
