Front Strut removal

My shocks were junk, so I bought some replacements from hour host.

I found this on rennlist:
Easier way for front strut removal on 85 - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Wouldn't removing the lower control arm mean I'd have to get an alignment? Besides it was done on an S4, not sure if it will work on my 84.

Right now I have it apart and I was trying to see if I could slide the strut out but no luck. The WSM suggests to remove the upper control arm. I've had it bathing in PBBlaster for the last 24 hours and It's not looking promising.

Anyone have any alternate methods for removing a front strut?

I was hoping to bang it out this weekend.

Thanks
-Dan
