Cutting off the bump rubbers will give you a little more travel, but then the suspension stiffness will go through the roof when the car finally does hit them which can cause snap oversteer or understeer depending on which end hits first.

It sounds to me like the car is too low -- which can also cause a number of other geometry issues with the suspension. Is it the front or the rear that you are concerned about bottoming?

Is your objective in lowering the car to improve the cornering grip or improve the appearance?
