Had a front wheel drive Audi. Did great on snow and ice. Driving down a snow covered road. With no input on my part going down a straight road it just spins around and ends up backwards in the bar ditch. Before I even have time to lift off the gas the front wheel drive pulls it right up out of the ditch and back on the road heading the opposite direction I was originally going. Quickly decided I just wasn't supposed to go that way, back tracked a bit and took another route.
It's not always input from behind the wheel that puts em in the ditch.
Another time, same winter storm and road conditions...come to a down hill slope to an intersection with a light. Even though going very very slowly wheels stuck in a ice rut and started sliding down the hill towards the interaction. Tried to turn the wheel and gun it, lock up there rear tires the e-brake, nothing would get it out of the rut. Locked up the wheels, put it in reverse, floored it AND pulled up the e-brake. Ever so slowly it just slid down the hill into the intersection. Moron in a big Lincoln Contenental pull right out in front and I broad sided him going very slow, but still denting in the whole side of his car. He said he thought I was going to stop. Yeah right, front wheels spinning backwards, rear wheels locked up and I'm gonna stop. Anyway exchanged info. Reported to my insurance. Ended up not hurting the Audi a bit with those 5mph bumpers, and my insurance called asking lots of stuff about his car. Told me he had two registered and reported the wreck on a different one than I had. Don't think they paid to fix either of his cars.
