$250 for a Ni-Cad flashlight, I'm too cheap for that. Not when I can get a 2 or 3 D cell LED Maglite for $30 and 12 D cell batteries for $8.
Both of my 3 D cell maglites were gifts and I've yet to use up the batteries that came with them.

Mine was only $180 and it is a tool so I took the tax deduction at the end of the year with the rest of my tools I bought.

Well that was fun.
Right after I made the last post the phone rang. Youngest daughter (yeah her)....."I went off the road into a guardrail and i'm stuck" Me....are you alright and where are you. She's about 6 miles away on a dirt (read snow covered ) road.... it's 0* ,snowing heavily, yup be right there. So the car is about a car length off into the snow bank/guardrail. Pull the snow out from under the front to make sure she didn't poke a hole in the oil pan or radiator.......nothing leaking.....okey dokey. Tear the pick-up apart trying to find my tow strap......nada.... ![]() Stopped at the first house I came to and got a strap.... good thing it was a good strap as I had to give it some slack a yank it several times before I finally got it into the road. Plastic bumper is history but i'm thinking that's not too bad..........but wait....... how come the driverside wheel is pushed back against the fender ![]() So it will steer to the right but straight ahead or to the left it rubs big time. Parked it out of the way so the plow truck wouldn't hit it and came home. On the way home I thought .....I wonder if the spare tire is small enough to not rub. Got back home loaded up some tools ,jack, flashlight, tape measure. Long story short.....I drove it back and it's thawing out in the garage. Can't see what's bent as its packed full of snow. Guess I know what i'm doing tomorrow.

Yeah, driving off the road isn't what you're supposed to do....kinda frowned upon...

Sorry for your troubles, Pete. The forecast when I left Logan yesterday was for something like 10-12" of snow in the metro-Boston area.

Had a front wheel drive Audi. Did great on snow and ice. Driving down a snow covered road. With no input on my part going down a straight road it just spins around and ends up backwards in the bar ditch. Before I even have time to lift off the gas the front wheel drive pulls it right up out of the ditch and back on the road heading the opposite direction I was originally going. Quickly decided I just wasn't supposed to go that way, back tracked a bit and took another route.
It's not always input from behind the wheel that puts em in the ditch. Another time, same winter storm and road conditions...come to a down hill slope to an intersection with a light. Even though going very very slowly wheels stuck in a ice rut and started sliding down the hill towards the interaction. Tried to turn the wheel and gun it, lock up there rear tires the e-brake, nothing would get it out of the rut. Locked up the wheels, put it in reverse, floored it AND pulled up the e-brake. Ever so slowly it just slid down the hill into the intersection. Moron in a big Lincoln Contenental pull right out in front and I broad sided him going very slow, but still denting in the whole side of his car. He said he thought I was going to stop. Yeah right, front wheels spinning backwards, rear wheels locked up and I'm gonna stop. Anyway exchanged info. Reported to my insurance. Ended up not hurting the Audi a bit with those 5mph bumpers, and my insurance called asking lots of stuff about his car. Told me he had two registered and reported the wreck on a different one than I had. Don't think they paid to fix either of his cars.

Probably just driving to fast for the conditions.
There's a long straightaway and then the road drops a hard right at the end that kind of sneaks up on you. I think she braked too late and slid into the guard rail. Ice under about 6 inches of snow. Snow is starting to taper off now.....8-9 inches so far.

Morning Jim and the rest.
Clear skies here but cold. Wow what a football game last night. Even the optimistic OU fans were not expecting to whip ass on Alabama. It was a great game.
