No. These bushings never require grease, not even on first install. They are silicone inpregnated bronze.
The needle bearings used collect too much dust and start to wear grooves into the pin. I've seen some start to give a "crunchy" pedal feel. With these bushings it dosen't matter if the pin is already worn.
I've done this mod to every 944 I've had, plus a few customers and friends cars. Never any problems, always good, smooth pedal feel.
The first one I had was done by Marcus Blazak in canada, like 10 years ago or more.
