I had to use my Google Foo to find which one of the stores it was. That manager said the card was swiped at the store so it was a good charge.

In the end I had to file a police complaint with the police in that city with the address and the phone number of the store, swear under penalty of perjury that I had not been to Georgia and rented a video. With that I got an official police report that I could file with the CC company.

When they removed that charge I paid off the balance and closed that account. I opened a Visa card at USAA. Those folks understand what customer service is all about. One day they called me and asked if I had been to Italy buying scuba gear. I said nope, I am still here in Oklahoma and I have not authorized anyone to buy anything in Italy. They had to send me a new card but they did not even think about making me do anything more.

I have never had to pay a penny and all it took was a little of my time to straighten it out.

It is not VISA that does not care, it is the financial institution that you have the account with. Fire the bank or whoever issued the card and find a better bank or credit union.

While I agree that USAA's customer service is stellar, I think they're a little too hyper vigilant about card fraud.

I travel often, so it's not uncommon for me to incur a charge in 2 or 3 different states in a day. They OFTEN turn off my card while I'm travelling because they think someone's fraudulently using it, and I have to call them to get it turned back on. Last time it happened, I was driving back home to AZ from northern Cali...in the middle of the night. Stopped to fill up the tank, and card didn't work (this is my debit card). I ended up just using a credit card, and calling USAA in the morning to get my account unlocked, so no harm; no foul, but it does get a little annoying. I have told them NUMEROUS times that I travel, and use my card all over the world. They still turn it off on me.
