This has nothing to do with "Rice." My point wasn't about the quality of the unit but rather that it seems to get "marked up" quite a bit depending on who sells it and to which segment of the car industry it is marketed.
And, for what it's worth, I can think of plenty of Asian engines that put out a lot more power than many 911's both in terms of specific output and max hp & torque.
Not that I don't love the 911 engine... but there have been some powerful cars from Asia over the years. Lately, the power of all but the 993 and newer models seems to be available every where you look. My brother has a dam*ed Del Sol that makes 100hp/liter bone stock and it's normally aspirated!
