I don't recall seeing this car on craigslist. Where did he have it advertised?

This ad also tripped one of my pet peeves which is the need to add adjectives / descriptors such as 'collectible' to describe cars that are neither in great condition nor original. The one that sets me over the top is when folks list 100k mile cars as 'mint' or 'time capsules'. I don't care how well the car has been cared for, it ain't gonna be either of those at 100k miles. Sorry for the rant.
All of these are classics, but you are right that cars attractive to a real collector are in a completely different league. That being said, this ad is pretty subtle compared to most dealer ads.

He is also pretty straightforward about the condition, and makes no claims about it being "mint" or "glossy". He could make his job easier with better pictures and more details. But if he was a pro at advertising, he'd be asking more money.

The car is definitely rough around the edges. But that is what you get for $15-17k in a 3.2 Carrera coupe, and a rebuilt engine, other nice mechanical upgrades, and clean interior are usually not present on those cars.

Sorting it out the rest will cost money -- but it seems like a good choice if you want a drivable project and can't afford a $25k car.
