I don't think it's "either/or" when you desire a complete car. The exterior/interior is a major factor, but when you start going through the list of all mechanically that can be wrong or shortly will be, respectfully, I don't thingk you can't quantify which is more important.
I actually bought my car because of the uniqe factor color, drove it from NM to Florida but spent the next year re-doing all the mechanicals so I wouldn't find myself at the side of the road with something broke.
