Thanks. The oil looks good and contains no metal shavings or any other debris. I guess I'm actually kind-of lucky that the coil failed before any other damage could be done.
I do have one other question if you don't mind... When I replaced all the compressor seals last year I noticed that some of the plastic/rubber coating (or just paint?) on the, I guess, valve cover was peeling off (see photo). One person I asked (who probably didn't really know) said not to worry about it, and it hasn't gotten any worse in the past year... but should I? And if so what should I do about it?
