I live in the 4th largest city in the country (in the suburbs really), my commute is about 22-23 miles, and my usual commute is 25-30 mins. I'm lucky in that I commute at off times. In the more peak hours, my commute would probably be 35-45 mins.

I consider myself pretty lucky.

I had another commute a few years back that was about 35-37 miles. I that was usually a 45-60 minute commute. It was much, much worse than my current commute.

I've known and worked with folks that commute 50-75 miles and drive for around an hour each way. They pay the price to live way, out of town. I wouldn't want to do that.
