Be sure to check under where the battery tray was to see if there is extensive rust on the suspension console, very critical point. Also check behind the rocker panels and jack points. There is some good info on this website about what to check when buying a 914. Personally I would try to look for something with a very solid body and no rust, and go from there. Body work can get real expensive and time consuming.
