I just caught up to this Thread yesterday. Too many posts to read them all to see where it morphed from a Targa discussion to ... now Magnus.

I'll start with Magnus. Cool guy. Got to chat him up at Amelia 2 months ago. Did any of you see the coverage of his shop in Jan/Feb Vintage Motorsport's "Great Vintage Garages?" Some great pix. You can see the issue for free via your Android, Kindle or iOS tablet or phone by downloading the Vintage Motorsport app.

Now for my $0.02 on Targas: I wasn't able to take delivery of the $4,294 (new) 356C Cab back when. Had the opportunity to take Euro del'y of a 901 coupe. Passed on that. (Duhh!) From when the Targa first came out, I wanted one. By the time I could afford it, I needed a 4dr sedan. Wasn't until 15 years ago I got back into sports cars. Series of MGB's, Alfas, Turner. Decided to sell last of them & found a 997.2 Targa 4S at Desert Euro. Like new. LOVED the look. Hadn't sold the Turner race car & didn't know what I'd get or how hard to sell it. By time it sold, so had the Targa. Spent 6 months looking for another. Gave up & bought Maserati. Hey! It was all about lust. Remember that sexy chick in high school when your hormones were raging. That's how I felt about the Maser, and still do.

Then one night last year I'm surfing cars FS sites & bingo - here's this '97 Targa in same colors as the 997.2 that I missed a couple of years ago. Also in CA (Laguna Beach), and only 17,500 miles. Bought it, love it. The security of a coupe. The openness of a Cab. The black top look of the 991 with glass sunroof. (Or, Mercedes, or Kia [WHAT?]) And, at this point, no squeaks, rattles or shakes as the early Targas seem to get.

And, if I keep it a little longer, the value will go up enough to compensate for the depreciation of the Maser. But, I still lust after that sexy car. I'll be back in it next month & can't wait. I can feel the tingling sensation already.
