You're making some progress, PML: you yourself succeeded in providing an explanation for the state of affairs about which you're concerned--that is, "the market has reached a standstill."
You astutely (if unwittingly) point out that "bidders and sellers" somehow get lost on the way to "their meeting place." It should come as no surprise to you, then, that "the market has reached a standstill" since the parties involved in potential transactions never arrive at the locations at which the transactions will eventually be completed.
