Market has reached a standstill.

Asking prices are now too high for the market to sustain.
The majority auctions are not meeting reserve.

The bidders and the sellers are not finding their meeting place.

Those fibre 1 bars are good. have you tried them? Does anybody have any really good recipe for burgers. Having a family get together soon and would like something out of the ordinary. No Vegan ideas needed thanks.

It does seem like the market has slowed down a bit.

Wonder how many PBJ (that Mom cut the crusts off of) were consumed to find the worst examples of a nonexistent trend. Maybe my mommy will make me a bowl of oatmeal so I can come up with equally inane examples to refute the above assertion.

In the meantime, I might take my Porsche for a drive. Something the OP will never do because he has no interest in owning one.

When did the market come to a grinding halt - was it on Thursday or Friday?

About noon EDT on Thursday. Some people thought it was a little later, but they've been proven to be witless boneheads.

I know of 2 sales in the last 60 day for 1967 911S for over 300k....the market is just getting started.

Look at the asking and selling prices for 89 Speedsters. Level 1 cars are now $200k.

The money is chasing the low milers. Who wouldn't want a bubble wrapped aircooled 911. Fact is these cars are now old and if they have miles they will need some level of restoration. That aint cheap!

The early market is still climbing but it is for very specific cars.

The 74 and up market got flooded with very avg cars trying to ride the tails of the done off color combo cars. I agree that cars are not selling at the higher pricing and they will adjust back down.

I think the majority of the big dollar cars are going to Europe. Makes sense they are their Hemi Cuda's.

Not an unreasonable post why bash?

You're making some progress, PML: you yourself succeeded in providing an explanation for the state of affairs about which you're concerned--that is, "the market has reached a standstill."

You astutely (if unwittingly) point out that "bidders and sellers" somehow get lost on the way to "their meeting place." It should come as no surprise to you, then, that "the market has reached a standstill" since the parties involved in potential transactions never arrive at the locations at which the transactions will eventually be completed.

Many of the higher end long hood sales (and the rare short hood sales..Speedsters etc) are private sales. In other words, never reach the open market.

I know this because I have chatted with the wonderful folks at Hagerty about their pricing guides. They get a majority of their data from their actual customers who report that they sold their car for X and then buyers reporting that they paid Y.

I once told someone I would meet them at a Starbucks with the money to buy his car

I find Starbucks coffee to be too burnt. I'll take Dunkin Donuts any day.
