Tires shouldnt turn when you take it out of gear because uhm ...its out of gear. They were probably spinning since you had it in gear before. the tires should spin when you let the clutch up when its in gear. Maybe you let the clutch up some when it was in gear then pushed it back in and then looked at the tires again.

IF this did not happen ...check out your tranny and clutch because something is wrong. I dont know what your doing but i hope its nothing bad.
