Question Wheels turning

Ok i have a questions its probably nothing serious but i figured i'd ask to cure my curiousity.

I have my car on jack stands with all the tires, rotors and calipers off (doing a brake job). I start my car up with the car out of gear and my back wheels are turning but you can stop it with your hands or when you push the clutch in it spins faster. I think i just need to bleed/flush the brake/clutch fluid or am i totally of base with this one?

The problem is on my 93 968 any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

Is it both tires that are spinning or just one? Also, when you stop the one, does the other spin faster?

Tires shouldnt turn when you take it out of gear because uhm ...its out of gear. They were probably spinning since you had it in gear before. the tires should spin when you let the clutch up when its in gear. Maybe you let the clutch up some when it was in gear then pushed it back in and then looked at the tires again.

IF this did not happen ...check out your tranny and clutch because something is wrong. I dont know what your doing but i hope its nothing bad.

tires spinning while off the ground and the vehicle is in neutral is completely normal.

rotational mass of the transmission is still spinning, even while the car is in neutral - just very slowly and without much force.

the oil between the gears and bearings act like a viscous clutch.
