As most will say, the rust you see is only the tip of the iceberg. What you see is only the stuff that made its way out. Rust is one thing that is really, really hard to chase down and totally get rid of on an early car.
I suspect that the entire rear shelf is gone, and if the floors are gone that's a huge job. Replacing floors is a big deal if you don't have access to a lift, etc. Also, the tunnel may be rusted as well. Check this as well.
I would wait.
