67 912 Bahama Yellow value needed

Hello all,

I have a 67 912 in original Bahama Yellow on offer to me & was hoping for some help as far as value is concerned.

Original motor & gearbox, non original seats & gauges, I think RS bumpers, fiberglass ducktail & RUST but not excessive. All lights, indicators are coming with the car as they are stored in boxes.

I think the motor runs but not sure yet as the owner wasn't clear on that but I will be meeting with him today. Says that the steering wheel is an original RS wheel.

What should I pay with the little info that I've given ?

Not a '67 unless the gauges have been changed. Should be green face not silver dot. Also looks fairly rusty. Need more information on whether it runs. But I'm thinking less than $10k. How much less is hard to say because we just don't have a lot of information on the car.

Just found out that the motor was rebuilt last yr.

Not sure if the bumpers are fiberglass or metal but makes sense that the rear is metal due to the rust spots.

Unable to see the car today but definitely seeing her tomorrow. The price seems reasonable & I'm quite fond of the color but want to make an informed decision.

That's a really cool car and a great color but not a project for the faint hearted. It would be easy to be upside down if you got it for free. I'd run. If not, be ready for ALOT of rust.

As most will say, the rust you see is only the tip of the iceberg. What you see is only the stuff that made its way out. Rust is one thing that is really, really hard to chase down and totally get rid of on an early car.

I suspect that the entire rear shelf is gone, and if the floors are gone that's a huge job. Replacing floors is a big deal if you don't have access to a lift, etc. Also, the tunnel may be rusted as well. Check this as well.

I would wait.

If the engine is properly rebuilt it has to be worth $5k minimum. This won't mean much unless you are parting it out.

These days a car like this is worth saving but it won't be a money maker. It would be a labor of love which will have you upside down for 5-10 years until the sales prices catch up to what you spent. 356s were like that for years.

Some brave souls took them on and were justly rewarded. A bunch of other 356s were crushed or cut up to save others, many of which would be restored in the current market.

If you really like the car and have the time and talent to do most of the work yourself (probably on the north side of 5 yrs) I'd do it. They don't make them like that any more and the prices are only going up. Labor of love indeed.

Yes, time, talent...and money...and space. I ran out of space, and then was paying for space, and the space cost money, and then it was not enough space. If you have the space buy it and stash it there and take it on piece-by-piece.
