+1 on a trap borrowed from animal control or the local shelter. Just make sure you are prepared to free a skunk.
If catching a cat, you can lift the trap off the ground, but that won't work with pups.
I would be very careful not to feed it out of bowls your dogs share. Pup certainly has parasites and could have nasty diseases like parvo etc.
