Care to break down your estimate of parting it out?
I come up with a little less.
- $2k for the webers
- $500-700 for the exhaust if it's in good shape
- $500 for the Solex cams as cores
- $1500 for the aluminum case
- $600 for the P&C's
- $750 for the heads
Add another $500-750 for the misc. parts like oil pump, bearings, valve covers, etc.
With a full rebuild from a reputable shop, $12-13k seems like a fair number. Maybe you accidentally crossed your estimates....
FWIW, I like the little 2.0 Normale motors. They have a nice rev range and seem to fit the character of the SWB 911 cars well. The 2.0S is more fun of course. But neither motor has much in the way of torque, and the motors need to be rev'd to at least 4k before they come to life.
