This cruise control thing has been bugging me so much that tonight I revisited the wreck and the slightly damaged pedal assembly and finally, after cutting open the tunnel a bit more, figured out that the switch for the clutch fits inside the tunnel, as evidenced by two studs protruding from the centre floor pan. The '86 uses the brake light switch as the brake signal. The tubes inside the tunnel appear to be placed differently in the '78 so I may still have a few issues with obstructions.
Cheers,
Johan
