Let me add some more trivia here -- a lot of the wt. is in the induction and exhaust systems (besides the crank & oil pump). But PAG used CAE for the 964 and esp. the 993 cranks (Aichle's engine book). So... if you put carbs on the engines, and SSI's -- the big engines (3.6L) may not be anywhere nearly as heavy as you might think. I've never weighed or torn down a 3.6L, but if anyone wants to ship me one, I'll get accurate wts. on all the components -- and will also see how well it runs in my '73 after a hotrodding -- at no charge!
