Just great...
Was looking forward to a long, quiet afternoon of working on the 911 engine and have run into some bad luck that I could really use some advice about.
My car is an '86 Carrera with 62k miles on it. I have the engine out to replace fuel and vacuum lines, do the usual "while it's out" oil leak prevention stuff, etc and today pulled valve covers to adjust valves...
Yep, 3 exhaust head studs fell out. I know enough to know that repair is beyond my capabilities, so some questions:
1. Can anyone recommend a shop in the KC area who will do the work correctly and at a reasonable price?
2. What else should be done while the heads are off? Valve job and guides I assume? With my car's low miles, I wouldn't think anything else would be necessary?
3. What kind of head studs (bolts) are considered the best to use now?
Thanks in advance for any advice...off to sulk now.
