It's not bad - just be careful you don't drop bits of the old brittle cork gasket from the top of the opening into the tank when you remove the outside cover. I seem to remember I had to rotate the sensor counter clockwise and lift it up and out towards me at the same time. Adding it back into the tank was the reverse action of removing it.
The bolts need very little torque too - you just want to snug them not squish the gasket or it will leak.
