For indoors: I have a 100% cotton flannel cover custom fitted for the car: two mirrors and Carrera tail. It breathes so it doesn't hold moisture in but keeps bugs, dust, etc off. Be careful putting the cover on and off. Dirt will cause scratches. The best way to take one on & off is to roll it up rather than drag it across the car.
*The custom fit really makes a difference: no big gaps to let dust in. I've had a generic for a 380sl and it never sat right.
