It is often just BS talk. At least if it happens at the gas station.
There are quite a few enthusiast flippers too. Guys who know their cars and still are looking for a deal. Maybe they luck out here and there, but I wasn't born yesterday. Most people that have a 911 nowadays have heard about the run up in prices and if anything, have too high expectations. Every dog is a $50k car now in the owner's eyes.
I have to admit - I have left a couple of "want to sell"? notes on derelict looking cars with straight bodies when my buddy was looking for a roller. It doesn't always mean there is a flipper behind it.
