I REALLY don't like electronic keypads at all. My gun safe and boxes both use good old-fashioned mechanical locks. No batteries to die, nothing to corrode (so long as it's kept oiled), simple.
Other than that it's not a bad solution and looks to be nice craftsmanship too.

I agree about electronics, etc.
I'd like to see a hidden spring-loaded cable pull, for example.
