This is a 1987 FACTORY built, raced from 1988 to 1990, with all the improvements built in as they appeared, French 944 Turbo Cup car. This particular car has a very well known history, being the car that was lent to invited celebrity drivers. Roland Asch drove it (and won), JP Beltoise, Marc Sourd, and lots of other pilots. It had the white and blue Pioneer sponsorship. The car was subject to a very thorough upkeep, as it could not fail to finish the race. It is rumored it had *more* than the 305 HP when broken in. No one could find where, but many tests have shown it to be a tad faster on the same track with the same driver. The car has never been uin any serious shunt, never needing a jig. It has won a lot of races during its French Cup career.
Being raced up to 1990, it has all the latest parts that were fitted to the series. That includes the honeycomb front hood, the brake bias lever, the Mg rims (2 sets of these), the specific DME and KLR brains. It has been tied over 300 Km/H.
The car is very well maintained, and can be returned to "as raced" spec in a matter of days, with all the parts included. It now has 70K Kms or about 43.750 miles. Mods include as of now:
-cockpit adjustable boost
-935 boost gauge with telltale needle
-lightened center console
-lexan rear hatch with replica 968 Turbo RS wing
-lightened flat door panels with 964 Cup handles (the same as in the '73 RS lwt)
Also available with the car is a BIG stock of 951 and Cup parts, including the very rare Mg inlet and sump, loads of engine parts, LSDs, susp. parts, manual steering rack, etc..the list is very long.
If you wanted to return it exactly as was raced, you'd need to buy: paint, the lower black rubber "chin", a std passenger seat, a std washer bottle (now replaced by a 2 quart 964 RS bottle).
