Sudden onset of hesitation

Mostly a lurker here, and have searched a number of hesitation and stumbling threads.

I have an '89 S2 and over the past year of ownership have replaced fuel filter, plugs, cap, rotor, timing belt service, motor mounts, alternator, air filter, shift linkage and a few interior bits. The car has run flawlessly...until this morning.

Car was washed, including engine bay on Sat. Driven on Sunday (no issues) and then when I started it this morning it felt rough. Lots of hesitation at all RPM's and throttle openings. 20min drive this morning didn't clear it up. Warm idle "feels" smooth at just a tick over 1000.

There have been some temperature fluctuations (I live in Maine) and humidity was certainly higher this morning than yesterday.

The only other thing I did yesterday was fill up with Shell 93 octane from a station I've used before.

Where should I start looking for a solution?

Thanks all.

Mike
