True. I placed my antenna on the cowl with the wire coming out the vent iirc. Another location would be the back roof using the vent for the wire. That said, reception is pretty illogical. I've had the antenna for my portable unit in the middle of a field and gotten crap for signal. Moving it 3' can add 2 bars. They use local repeaters and signal strength is known to fluctuate from the sat at certain points during the day in certain locations. Cliff notes: I'd want the most open position possible
