The trash bag is an easy fix but you have to make sure you won't forget it and get in and crank the car without removing it.
(I once sucked a velocity stack and its air cleaner down onto a carb with the help of a plastic bag. It did keep the snow off it though...)


Put a bag over the steering wheel to remind you otherwise you will have to pull the fan and alternator to pull chunks of bag off the top of the engine.
