One nice thing about Cabo is the shorter flight time to get there. From where do you originate? John Wayne (Santa Ana/Orange County) has a non-stop Southwest Airlines flight that takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes. When we traveled there not too long ago, that was a big determining factor.
After a lot of online investigating, I determined that Cabo was safe. As it turns out, we felt completely safe and absolutely loved every Mexican National we came into contact with once we got past all the airport peddler's.
We stayed at Hacienda Del Mar which is on the corridor about half way between Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas. We very much enjoyed HDR, and while the hotel, beach, and pool area were great, I really thought their employees and the food were the best part of the trip. There is a very nice golf course adjacent to the hotel, however, it is rather pricey. HDR, being on the corridor, is a little isolated, but is a ten minute drive from Cabo if you deem it necessary for activities or nightlife. We were content to just lay by the pool or on the beach while waiters brought us food and drink and only drove to Cabo, once, to rent a watercraft. If you consider HDR, you may want to rent a timeshare from an existing owner instead of booking a hotel room.
There are a number of very nice hotels in Cabo to consider, however, they may be inhabited by a younger, more lively crowd if that at all bothers you.
Quite frankly, we can't wait to go back!! Cheers!
