no it's not closer to SMC in fact it's polyester resin and chopped glass sprayed into a mold .
one of my businesses is producing composite parts panels complete car bodies and repairing them .
this front clam is SMC and nothing like what you have produced in a different manner.

this nose we make is made from fiberglass it's also offered in carbonfiber .
this lip spoiler we make is also offered in fiberglass and carbon .
this plug for the mold we are making is being built out of fiberglass we will then make the mold out of FG to make the parts out of carbon fiber.
this is just one style of wing we produce . the mold is made from FG and the wings are offered in CF or FG .

if you do a repair using a SMC products you will not have a listing repair .
if your set on using a SMC product on polyester you will be doing it again with in 5 years .
