When I can replace the IMS bearing for about $750 myself I am going to do it so I can sleep peacefully at night. I see it like a cam belt on a 944 ,a known soft spot with a reasonable fix available .A ceramic bearing is available for $5-600 and you can rent the tools for $75 now. I expect to take about 6-7 hours to do it in my garage.
