2000 Boxster S 90k miles black on tan
Looking at a Black over Tan 2000 Boxster S stick shift --- body and interior in nice order -- partial service history of minor stuff and rms and ims seals replaced -- nil evidence of ims bearing having been replaced -- drives well -- wondering what learnered opinions on the market value would be on this car ?

Probably about $8K to $10K depending upon location and condition. My friend picked up a 2001 Boxster S with 45,000 miles on it last year for $9K.

Who buys a Boxster nowadays anyway?
I mean really? ![]() There are a ton out there, especially in California. Look at every car and find one with records. The market prices are all over. I would say $9K for a S, but that's me. |

Location matters a lot. That's an $8-10k car in CA. Here in Co it would be $12-14k because we have no inventory.

I just bought a 67000 mi 2001 S new tires ,also a clutch at 55000.Seal grey on black. (Loaded car with factory m030 and about 10k in options on window sticker). Small dealer had no records but I found the books and window sticker and some records hidden behind the spare. Clean title but carfax shows a minor accident no airbag deployment rear ender.
$9300 in Florida. Everything works I,m doing the IMS myself in the next month or so. . I sold my high mile 993 for about 4 x what I have in this cheap/budget replacement. Prices are low because everyone is scared of the IMS bearing . I don,t really care as I am replacing it and then will drive it into the ground. If will probably part it out after I am done with it. I see huge value as a great driver ,not a collector car.

Buy it and drive the hell out of it. The Boxster S is a great sports car that sells for next to nothing - cheap, fun to drive, reliable and somewhat practical.
I have been driving one for four years as a summer daily driver and some track - 4 oil changes and a wheel bearing. Don't worry about the IMS, not worth the expense versus risk on $10k car. Because I don't have to worry about the Boxster and having real AC and power top, I rarely drive my SC targa. |

When I can replace the IMS bearing for about $750 myself I am going to do it so I can sleep peacefully at night. I see it like a cam belt on a 944 ,a known soft spot with a reasonable fix available .A ceramic bearing is available for $5-600 and you can rent the tools for $75 now. I expect to take about 6-7 hours to do it in my garage.
