Burning fuel is not the problem, it's the engine and transmission cases from the older cars that is burning at this point.
Problem is once magnesium starts to burn, there is not much you can do to put it out. I was sent to fire training school years back, and they told us about all that could be done was to smother it in sand. Magnesium just burns too hot.
