Wow. Makes you think. 4 canisters and it still burning. Would it help stalling a fuelcut somewhere?

In the nineties governments banned the use of Halon 1301. It degraded the ozon layer and polar bears did not have sunscreen.
Before that ban you could put out a serious fire with about 1kg of the stuff; today rulemakers believe that it is better to have your car burned to the ground then to allow for halon. As we all know no toxic fumes escape from a car that burns to the ground and the build of a new one does not deplete our energy ressources or raw materials. The halon replacements are not half as good and only powder extinguisher are readily available. I have aided a couple of years back to extinguish the fire on a 928. We where early in the fire and along the highway. Most people stopped and handed over their 1 kg powder extinguisher. The fire was the size of a piece of paper burning. After 20+ bottles we did not succeed and the fire truck pulled up to extinguish with foam. The engine by that time was toast.

DO NOT OPEN THE GOD DAMN DECKLID! (Pumping in fresh free air to a fire is not good).
Jam the nozzles through the grill or open it the tiniest amount. |

Problem is once magnesium starts to burn, there is not much you can do to put it out. I was sent to fire training school years back, and they told us about all that could be done was to smother it in sand. Magnesium just burns too hot.
