I have a set of knee pads that I covered in leather for a 'hot rod' build, but removed for a SWB one piece lower knee pad.
There are earlier and later knee pads and the gap around the ashtray is going to be larger with the later pads.
The one piece solution - factory or Maxem's - is superior because it's one less fiddly bit to avoid adjusting the ashtray, and who the hell still smokes and/or does it in a vintage 911?
