My intention was to have the RST roadworthy with 600 miles under its belt to be ready for the 10 hour drive to the Hershey for th April 16th Porsche Swap Meet. But about 10 days ago it became evident that the long range weather forecast did not look good for getting the roads in central Ontario clear of sand and salt to be able to do the necessary shakedown. So, regretfully, I decided to back off burning the midnight oil to finish the car. Truth be told, we are currently in the middle of yet another snow storm that will be around until this weekend. I'll just have to make do driving our 997S to Hershey instead- not a bad alternative!
Most of the heavy interior work is now finished. Of note is the headliner which I unpacked and carefully hung to release the fold marks immediately after I purchased it from a fellow Pelican over two years ago. I started to instal it but aborted after it was evident the the fold lines would not disappear even after stretching. So much for purchasing an item in its original package. I had to wait for a new one to arrive from our host, and I'm glad I did. Nice German quality.

Much has been discussed here in this forum about glues and adhesives. I have bought and tested several and settled with 3M Super Trim Adhesive 08090 to be the best stuff for stiff square weave carpet and headliner. It sticks, can be moved and repositioned. Anything else from 3M and some other we'll know manufacturers simply did not cut it for me. For small areas I sprayed some adhesive into a small container and applied with a small brush.

My friend and I attempted to instal the rear window last week. We were unsuccessful so yesterday I had the pros do a house call- it took two pros and my help three hours of hard pushing, shoving, pulling and swearing to set both the front and back windshields in. And that was after I had laid in the aluminum mouldings and put the seals on the glass. Who said this was DIY? Anyway, I'm happy with the result.

More in a few days.
Cheers
Johan
